Obituary for Van Buren Thomas Jr.
Reverend Van B. Thomas, Jr., 71, of Taylors, husband of Emma Jo Wood Thomas, died Monday, June 6, 2016.
Born in Greenwood, SC, he was the son of the late Van B. Thomas, Sr. and Connie Richardson Thomas.
Reverend Thomas served in the US Air Force and graduated from Emory University Theology School. He served churches with the SC United Methodist Conference for 36 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughter, Treva Thomas Hammond (Clay); his son, Van B. Thomas III (Stacey); his grandsons, Hunter, Alex, and Hayden Hamlin, Grayson and Landon Thomas; and brother, Randy Thomas.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Thomas G. Hamlin.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11:30 am at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 701 Cleveland Street, Greenville, SC, 29601. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:15am at the church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church; or Piedmont Hospice, 209-A Riverside Court, Greer, SC 29650.
