Obituary for Cyril Gary DeMars
Cyril DeMars passed away at his home in the arms of his loving wife on November 9, 2016.
Cyril Gary DeMars was born on March 10, 1951 in Elk River, MN to Gerald and Florence (Zachman) DeMars. He grew up in Montrose, MN and graduated from Buffalo High School with the class of 1969. Cyril always enjoyed working with his hands and spent most of his life working in machine shops and doing landscaping where he created beautiful gardens. Cyril spent his younger years with his family, raising four amazing children. He lived in Delano, MN for many years.
On August 19, 2006, he was united in marriage to Sheri Friedrich McCorquodale in Paynesville, MN.. They moved to Taylors, SC in 2010. Cyril retired in 2012 where he was able to spend time focusing on his favorite passions; gardening, hiking and spending time with his family and friends. Sheri and Cyril relocated to Greer, SC in 2013.
Cyril is survived by his wife, Sheri, his four children: Theresa (Kyle) Ertel of Maple Lake, MN, Carrie Zeigler of Grand Rapids, MI, Kacey DeMars of South St. Paul, MN and Jeff (Robyn) DeMars of Minneapolis, MN, stepchildren: Alisha McCorquodale Sartell, MN, Andrea McCorquodale of Harrison Township, MI and Alexa McCorquodale of Princeton, MN, 4 grandchildren: Charlotte and Nicholas Zeigler, Allie and Carter Ertel and an additional grandchild on the way, siblings: Francis (Lana) DeMars of Neskowin, OR, Vincent (Judy) DeMars of Buffalo, MN, Phillip (Kim) DeMars of Orlando, FL, Catherine (David Cooley) DeMars of Shorewood, MN, Jeanne (Conrad) Derus of Chaska, MN, Larry (Kathy) DeMars of Maple Lake, MN, Neal (Sue) DeMars of Winsted, MN, Victoria (Bob) Kalinowski of Delano, MN and Annette (Ken) Kaiser of Shorewood, MN.
Cyril also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, brother Ray DeMars, nephew Michael DeMars, brother-in-law, Ken Stephens; and sister-in-law Julie Friedrich.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10:00 am at Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 2600 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greenville, SC 29615. There will be a reception following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
