Obituary for Victor Gordon

Victor Gordon
Victor Collins Gordon, 84, of Fair Play was lifted and carried by the love and prayers of his family and loved ones to the opened arms of his heavenly Father on the morning of April 3, 2017. We know there was a joyous celebration in heaven upon his arrival.

Victor was born and raised in Charleston, SC. He was the son of the late James H and Jessie Gordon. In addition to his wife Lois of 63 years, Victor is survived by his sister Margaret Nutter (Kentucky), twin brother Frank V Gordon (Alabama), and sister Jacquelyn Horn (Fair Play); his children Lois Bell (Ken) of Greenville, Margaret Morrow Patterson of Walhalla, and his son Victor C Gordon, Jr (Angie) of Oregon; his grandchildren Christopher Bell, David Diamond (Stephanie), Margaret Patterson (Chad) Zack Patterson, Megan G Davis (Eric) and Benjamin Gordon and his great grandchildren Kristen M Bell, Kendall S Bell, Emma Kate Bell, David Diamond, Jaiden Patterson, Carson Patterson, and Camden Patterson, Jackson Patterson. He was also blessed in his numerous nieces and nephews.

Victor is predeceased by his precious daughter Katherine E Diamond and a brother James H Gordon, Jr.

A retired U.S. Army Warrant Officer, Victor was a Korean War, Cold War (Germany) and Vietnam War Era Veteran. He then worked as an electrician with the South Carolina Highway Department until his retirement 20 years later. A member of South Union Baptist Church, Victor was a deacon, served on many committees and sang in the choir. He dearly loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family and friends, serving others, his pets, black coffee and cookies, history, music, a good joke or story and his wife’s cooking. He touched many souls and will be missed by all.

Funeral Services will be held on April 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. at MJ Cooper National Cemetery in Anderson. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately afterwards at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Fair Play, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made either towards the purchase of a memorial brick to be placed at the Korean War Memorial in Mauldin, SC (www.koreanvets301.com ) or to the charity of your choice.
