Obituary for Beverly Grainger
Beverly Jean Grainger, age 57, passed away peacefully in Belton, South Carolina on September 28th, 2017 in the warm embrace of family. Beverly was born in Greenville, South Carolina on March 20th, 1960 – the daughter of the late Kenneth Leland Flint and late Jonedith (Taylor) Flint and the sister of the late Corie (Flint) Volrath and Daphne (Flint) Hickey
In December 1977, Beverly married her first love and high school sweetheart Ricky Charles Riddley, with whom she had her only child, Zachariah Lee Riddley. Beverly loved to love people – and she cared deeply for all those in her life for all her life. Over the years she would re-marry, first to David Cleveland in 1984 and Ricardo Grainger in 1987. She was always on the move, and busy with the things she loved doing for others. In her professional life, Beverly served as a certified nursing assistant and elderly caregiver, helping those at their greatest time of need. She was one of those rare, selfless souls who drew purpose by helping others, always with a smile that was both unmistakable and genuine. She was proud of her ability to make the lives of others better, happier and richer. She shared her love of food with homemade favorites like spaghetti, chocolate chip cookies, baked beans and just about anything that could be grilled. She enjoyed weekends on the lake, funny-scary movies, lemons, walking through nature, summertime trips to the beach and long moments in the sun. She also loved gardening, as it brought her joy to watch things grow and blossom. She extended her care to animals through volunteer work at the Human Society, which brought her companionship and comfort through the years. Beverly cherished home and home-making – creating those warm spaces filled with love, laughter and memories that have touched us all. She was fiercely loyal to her family and her many close friends. Her passing leaves our world a little less bright. Yet her light now graces heaven even more brilliantly and her memory will live on in those of us who were blessed to share her time and love.
Beverly is survived by her sister, Daphne (Flint) Hickey, her niece Jacquelyn Hickey Chester, her loving son, Zach Riddley, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. A special thank you to Stacey Carroll, Seth Riddley and Christi Barnwell for their care and support during her last weeks, days and hours here on earth, and for opening their home to provide her a place of peace. For all of this, we are grateful more than words can express.
