Obituary for William Clarence Chapman Jr.

William Clarence Chapman Jr.
William Chapman, 74, of Simpsonville, passed away on October 31, 2017.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Felisa Chapman; his children, Chris, David (Amanda), and Sandra (Fidoly "Phil"); his siblings, Bob (Mary) and Ronnie (Marsha); and his grandchildren, Justin, Jason, Alan, Abby and Jacob.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Barbara and Jimmy.

His favorite saying was, "Before I was young and foolish, now I am just foolish." Grandpa, as everyone called him, drove the school bus for the Charlotte school system. He loved the children and they loved him. Before his bus driving days, Grandpa worked in the printing business for 35 years. In his younger and more mobile days, he loved golfing. He also was very passionate about boating...all types of boating. Besides his family, his two loves were his cockatiels, Babe for 20 years and Sonny for six years. He was not discouraged about his wheelchair, but instead embraced his mobile one which he called "my convertible". He loved watching NASCAR, but even more so his Clemson Tigers. When he needed to relax, Luis Miguel sang to him. His favorite holiday was Christmas. Doctor's orders could not keep him off a ladder when decorating season came upon us. Christmas cheer needed to be seen and felt throughout the house. He was a joyous person and certainly will be missed by all who knew him.

Please join the family for the visitation which will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at The Palmetto Mortuary at 1017 Mauldin Road, Greenville, SC 29607 with a memorial service following at 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Judes Hospital.
