Obituary for Laurel Farley (Boone)

Laurel Farley (Boone)
- A fight well fought, the victory won –
Laurel Farley, 57, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 10th, 2018.
Laurie was and is the heart of her family: husband Alan and children Thomas, Jacob, Scott, and Elise. With all the other interests and activities in her life, her family was her first concern – primarily that they would all know the Lord in salvation and live God-honoring lives. She, herself, accepted Christ’s gift of salvation as a young girl.
The youngest of three daughters of D.L. and Yvonne (Brader) Boone, she was born Laurel Denise Boone in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and moved to this area as a pre-teen.
In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her mother, sisters Frieda DePenning and Jan Rogers,
daughters-in-law Liz and Kiah, aunts Vivian Smith, Carol Brader, Ellen Linkenhoker, Jo Ann Pabody, as well as
cousins.
She was preceded in passing by her father, Dolphus Boone.
Laurie also had numerous dear friends, including ones from church, from softball and volleyball officiating, and from her school years. She and her family have appreciated so much their faithful prayers, visits, meals and other expressions of love.
A lady with a heart for service, Laurie was always one of the first to volunteer for ministries at her church – a special love of hers being the Good News Club. She also served her community as director of the HOA.
There is no end to the list of her talents and skills which she used to repair and enhance her own home, to provide for the needs and enjoyment of her family, and to prepare her children for life. One
son said, “Mom’s main fault was that she cared too much!”
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Good News Club at https://my.simplegive.com/f/f2?formid=2fbdb437-386e-479d-9893-a487956fe470
Laurie benefitted from Christian school education her entire academic career, concluding with a B.S. from Bob Jones University. In addition to that degree, she made dear friends there and met Alan, her faithful husband of 35 years.
The Memorial Service will be at Second Presbyterian Church 105 River Street Greenville, South Carolina 29601 on Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 at 12:00 pm.
