Betty Thomas McCarthy passed away on June 6, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Greenville, South Carolina at the age of 97. Loving mother to daughters Susan Subrizi (Paris) and Karen Gstundtner and sister of Peggy Reinhold. Proud grandmother of Chris, Stephen, Jennifer (Chris), Nicole (Mark) and Joey, and great-grandchildren Jack, Regan, Josiah, Isaiah and Caleb. She held dear a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and relations. She was the daughter of Bertha and Dilman Karr Thomas of Clearwater, Florida and is predeceased by her husband, Charles, daughter Sharon, brothers Clifford, Dilman, and Richard, and sisters Eva and Ada. Born in Saskatchewan, Canada; later raised and educated in Clearwater, Florida. Betty was a dedicated homemaker and enthusiastic air force wife to Charles. She loved to travel, cook, sew and pursue artistic endeavors and always placed her family’s needs first. Betty enjoyed many years of health and the company of friends and especially her son-in-law, Paris. Betty deeply appreciated her loving friend and caregiver Delores. The family would like to thank the hospice team and Delores, Rachel, Tanji, Audrey, Shirley, Catherine and Rebekah for their exceptional care.
Wonderful family memories will keep her in our thoughts and hearts. She will be greatly missed.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Simpsonville, South Carolina on June 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
A burial is planned in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
