Obituary for Billy O. Thompson

Bill Thompson, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2019. He was born June 9, 1934, the eldest son of Russell and Louise Thompson. Bill travelled around the southeast working for Daniel Construction Company as a brick mason foreman. Bill spent most of his adult life as a proud member of The Hejaz Shrine Club which raises money for the Shriner’s Hospital for Children across the country. He was a dedicated member, greeter, chef and past President of the Golden Strip Shrine Club as well as an avid year-round gardener.
He is survived by his wife of sixty four years, Norma Jean, his son Ken and wife Alison, his daughter Jeanie Love and husband Steve, grandchildren Trevor, Renae, Chase, Stephen and Madison, his brother Tommy Thompson and his wife Jayne as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His eldest son, Stephen, predeceased him in April 2018. He is also predeceased by his brother Ray Thompson and wife Jeanette.
His family wants to thank all of his amazing friends, fellow shriners and recent caregivers for their constant love and support.
A service will be held at Graceland East Memorial Park in Simpsonville on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 3:00pm. The family will receive friends at the Graceland East Memorial Chapel from 2:00 to 3:00. In lieu of flowers, please give to your local Shrine Club or children’s hospital.
