Obituary for Alexander Constantine Petras

Alex was born and grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. He lived with his parents Gus and Pauline, his brother Tom and his grandmother Stamata. He attended Stone Elementary, Greenville Middle, and Greenville High School.
The family lived on Central Avenue near
downtown Greenville in the 1950’s and 1960’s.
He loved to draw cartoons, play with Legos, and Lincoln Logs or was
outdoors playing with the dogs, cats and Tonka Toys. He liked to watch Shock Theater on Saturday nights on channel 13, Lost in Space, Tom and Jerry and Top Cat were also some of his favorite shows.
In his late teens Alex began to develop schizophrenia, a debilitating mental illness. He then lived with his parents until 1994 when he became a permanent resident at the psychiatric hospital.
He was in a hospice facility in Sparta, Ga
and passed away on May 6, 2019.

A visitation will be held Thursday May 9, 2019 at Palmetto Mortuary at 12:30pm. A service will follow at 1pm. The burial will be held at 2pm at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
