David Jay Platte of Greenville, S.C., died May 28, 2018, at age 63.
He was raised in Hillsborough, N.J., and graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1973. Nicknamed "Max," he played trumpet in school as well as third base on the varsity baseball team. A graduate of Montclair State University, he started his career in telecommunications with GTE before joining Verizon in Somerset County (New Jersey). He was promoted to Marketing Manager and transferred to South Carolina. He left Verizon for a short time, and then returned to the company as a technical support specialist. He was an avid tennis player and a dog rescuer. Dave was a risk taker and a generous man who lived everyday to its fullest. He loved his family, his many friends and his dogs.
He is survived by his sister, Diane Miklowcic, a brother-in-law, George Miklowcic, two children, Joseph and Min, his beloved life partner, Kate Robb, and their dogs. He is also survived by his three nephew, Jason, Damon and Jerred.
