Lorena "Betty" Thompson, 85, of Greenville, originally Dallas, Texas, began celebrating her eternal life with the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 14th, 2018.
She was the daughter of the late Dallas and Loretta Hawkins.
She is survived by her loving children, Lorie Batson and her husband, Frank, of South Carolina, David Thompson and his wife, Susan, of Michigan; her adoring grandchildren, Ashely E. Watson, Christopher S. Thompson and his wife, Lauren, Zachary H. Watson, Matthew R. Thompson, Lucas B. Watson and his wife, Any, and Grady Walters.
She was preceded in passing by her loving husband, Robert Burns Thompson; and her son, Robert Bruce Thompson.
Betty was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was extremely supportive to her grandchildren and urged them to reach their fullest potential. Prior to marrying her husband, she graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor's of Science in music. She proudly supported her husband as he served the country in the Navy. Betty cherished the nation's founding principals rooted in Christian faith as an active Republican. God gave her a perfect birthday of July 4. She had an unwavering faith in God. She was active in her church and loved singing in the choir. She taught multiple Bible studies and was a strong prayer warrior. Betty continued her membership with Tri Delta Sorority and community outreach with them throughout her life. She was an avid dog lover her whole life. Betty will return to her home in "Deep in the Heart of Texas" for her final resting place.
