Obituary for Elaine D. Moon
Elaine Dean Moon, age 78, passed away peacefully Tuesday the 25th of December at McCall Hospice House of Greenville. She was born August 18, 1940, daughter of the late Francis (Frank) Harrison and Minnie Jane (Martin) Dean. Elaine is survived by her loving husband George L. Moon, they married on June 18, 1960.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children; Tony (Lynn) Moon and Sonya Allen. “MaMa Laine” was adored and admired by her grandchildren: Ken (Katica) Moon, Jerred (Emily) Moon and Harrison Allen; four great-grandchildren: William, Graham, Eleanor and Sasha; and one great-great grandchild: Iris.
Elaine was predeceased by her brother Mell (Joe) Vernon Dean, sister Virginia Sally Dean Cox, and brother Herman Ronald (Ronny) Dean. She is survived by her sister Martha Gwendolyn (Gwen) Dean Ragnone.
Elaine cared for family and friends through delicious cooking and baking. She embraced and shared the beauty of every season through her gracious hospitality. Elaine was dedicated to her church family of Washington Baptist Church. She was a woman of faith, known for her passion for helping others. Her generous spirit touched the lives of the home-bound, the sick, and the grieving. Many of her service acts were true acts of love as she exhibited the love she felt for her savior.
Family, friends and others whose lives Elaine touched are invited to celebrate her life at Washington Baptist Church, 208 Washington Church Road, Pelzer, SC 29669. The Family will receive friends at 1:00PM with Memorial Service following at 2:00PM on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
Elaine graciously served as a volunteer for eleven years at Open Arms Hospice / McCall Hospice House of Greenville. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to honor Elaine’s compassion for helping others may be made to McCall Hospice House of Greenville, 1836 W Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.
