Obituary for Patricia Jean Abson

Patricia Jean Priscilla Mary Valle Abson passed into the eternal light on January 29, 2019 at her home in
Simpsonville, South Carolina formerly of Pekin, Illinois. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 2, 1942
to Joseph & Jean “Maunie” Valle. She fell in love with and married Robert John Abson in 1968 who
preceded her in death in 1979. She is survived by her two children Robert J. Abson Jr (Kathy) and David
J. Abson (Shelly), by her brother Joseph “Jay” Valle (Susan), Chillicothe, IL, and two sisters Judi Murdach
(David) and Gnelia Ray and three wonderful grandchildren Tegan Abson, Nicholas “Nick” Abson and
Alexander “Alex” Abson.  She had a close family including cousins “Skip” Valle (Jennie), Donna Poltz
(Don) and friends Connie Saathoff of Morton, IL, Kathleen McCusker, formerly of Pekin, IL, Kay Grillot of
Washington, IL and Kitty Yontz of Delavan, IL.
Patricia was a faithful and devout Catholic, serving as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and as a
lector. She spent many years volunteering for the Right to Life movement, serving as President of the
Tazewell County Right to life and PAC chairman of the Illinois Federation for Right to Life. Patricia was
also a former Director of the Baby Food for Life project, held each January to collect signatures and baby
food from pro-lifers who seek restoration of the right to life of preborn children.
She was active in local politics, having served as President of the Tazewell County Republican Women.
She was the first woman to serve on the Tazewell County Board. She enjoyed working in the retail
industry, reading, politics, gardening, music, Chicago Bears and Clemson football. She was the self-
proclaimed “Queen of the Universe”.  She made a big difference in this world and touched many lives.
She will be forever remembered for her kindness, generosity, caring and love of others.

Church, 2252 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
