Obituary for Karen Anne Foote
Karen Anne Mallett was born in Chicago ILL, December 29, 1940 daughter of Alfred and Harriet (Schillo) Mallett of Hammond Indiana.
She received a B.A. degree from Indiana University Bloomington, IN in Fine Arts Education and an M.A. in Education from University of Saint Francis, Fort Wayne, IN.
She was active in many community organizations. As a Girl Scout from 4th grade through college she achieved the highest award, the Curved Bar. Her scout activities included: participating in a Mariner Scout Troop in high school, working as a camp counselor, waterfront director and swimming instructor. During college she worked as a bank teller in the summer months.
After marriage she was active in many community organizations. In Rensselaer, IN Karen was elected to be the Jasper County Justice of the Peace. She and Jim became foster parents of a high school student. In Johnson City TN she served in all offices of the Watauga Valley Art League.
Her work experience included teaching K-12 art classes at public schools and Fashion and Design courses at Steed College and Tusculum College. In Johnson City she worked at the Science Hill Vocational School as bookkeeper and Watauga Avenue Presbyterian Church office administrator.
As member of various Presbyterian Churches: she served on the Evangelism Committee and financial team, taught Sunday school, leader of the youth group and sang in the church choirs.
She was President of the Watauga Area Art Club and a member of Southern Arts Society in Kings Mountain SC. She has been an active watercolor artist and shown her works in several states and has been awarded many awards.
She is survived by her husband James Edward Foote and two sons Mark Edward Foote and Timothy James Foote.
Mark, and wife Linette of Simpsonville, SC have three children: Molly and Maeve of Simpsonville and Liam Edward Foote of Springfield, OH

Her brother Thomas Richard Mallett and his wife Judy live in Fort Wayne, IN
Following their sons college years, she and Jim rewarded their work with many international trips which expanded their horizons and always made them happy to be Americans
Celebration of Life services will be held at the Eastminister Presbyterian Church 2240 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville, SC on Tuesday, April, 30th at 2:00
