The last time I was Grandpa was on September 3rd, 2015. I took Jacob with me. We had a great visit with Grandpa - we were able to stay for a little over an hour. Grandpa talked with me as we watched Jacob play with the Noah's Arc that Grandma had mad so long ago. He seemed to really enjoy seeing that old boat being played with. Jacob would come over and give him hugs, and even encouraged Grandpa to play a little with the animals too. I loved seeding Grandpa smile. He would laugh every time Jacob would pretend he didn't know which way the kitchen was ("Oh! It's over here!") I will always cherish my memory of our conversation. Grandpa was so open and honest with me. He told me, "Katie, I'm not afraid to die. ....I want to see your grandma again - if she will have me...I hope that I am able to die soon, in my sleep- I'm just so tired." I am so happy for him that he can finally be at peace. -Katie
